Degree programmes

The courses offered by the academic staff of the Middle Ages section are part of the range of studies in history. The University of Graz is currently offering a bachelor's and master's degree programme in history as well as a secondary school teacher accreditation programme in history, social studies and political education and a doctoral programme in philosophy. Another research area is training and research in the field of historical auxiliary sciences. This broad research area includes, for example, palaeography, diplomatics, epigraphy, material culture studies, chronology, historical geography, general studies of source, heraldry, sphragistics, genealogy and numismatics. Less prominent auxiliary sciences further include digital history, Medieval Latin philology, codicology, symbolism, iconography, material culture studies, vexillology and phaleristics.
