Our courses can be attended in the framework of the bachelor's programme History and in the master's programme History of Southeastern Europe. Despite the emphasis on the immediate area of specialisation, courses are also offered for instance, on East European History and History of the Caucasus Region or Middle East. It is impossible to pursue area studies without good knowledge of the relevant region. With this in mind, regular excursions are offered so that students can become familiar with the history, culture and people of Southeastern Europe through “travelling research”. When dealing with the social history of Southeast Europe, a striking lack of written sources becomes evident. A lot of history, however, can be found “lying around on the street”, therefore, some courses are held as fieldwork.
Public office hours: by appointment only (by telephone or E-Mail).
